Vibrant Sea Foam

Brilliantly colored sea foam bubbles in a tidal pool reflect the photographer in Cape Perpetua on the Oregon coast. I'm not sure what caused the bubbles to be colored, whether it was the refraction of sunlight or a natural oil seep or something else, but it sure is beautiful. The reflection is me in my raingear straddling the tidal pool, and the three straight legs of my tripod. This image was the winner of the People in Nature category of the 2012 Windland Smith Rice International, and is currently on display in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C.
